BMW NORTH AMERICAN Team PTG Built M3 GT GRAND AM Race Car
2002 BMW North American Team PTG E46 M3 GT ROLEX GRAND AM Race Car
COST:POA "Price On Application"
BMW North American Motorsport Race Team PTG didn't race in 2002 but that did not stop them from being productive. This BMW Motorsport E46 M3 GT chassis #005 was an original BMW Motorsport factory built roll caged race car chassis. It was originally purchased and assembled by the BMW North American Motorsport race team Prototype Technology Group. The BMW North American race team PTG was owned by the infamous German, Thomas Milner who retired his team from racing BMW's in 2007. This specific race car was sold by BMW North American Motorsport team PTG to a customer race car team based in Australia. The Australian based race team raced this car in the 2002 with BMW NA Motorsport Team PTG mechanical parts support to assist. Back in 2002 BMW NA Motorsport team PTG needed a new special BMW customer race engine competitive enough to propel the BMW Motorsport factory race car chassis #004 & #005 into ROLEX GRAND AM victory. (The BMW Motorsport P60B40 V8 race engine was only used for BMW works projects, it's never been sold for customer racing.) Hence the need for a new BMW V8 option, Chris Fletcher of BMW North American Team PTG one of the race team engine builders was tasked with the job to custom modify a street legal BMW M GmbH S62B50 v8 engine found in the BMW E39 M5. No easy feat, as BMW Motorsport had only built special racing camshafts and exhaust manifolds for the S62 to be used in the BMW Motorsport E46 M3 GT race car chassis. The BMW NA Team PTG custom modified the BMW M S62 into a non-street legal race engine producing 549HP.

BMW AG Motorsport Classic Original Race Car
In 1986 BMW AG built three of the very first ever E30 M3 DTM Group A prototype race cars. These prototypes had been used for company race car development purposes. The BMW E30 M3 DTM Group A Prototype numbers #1. and #2. have been unaccounted for in society to this very date of 12/12/2016.
The #3 E30 M3 DTM Gr.A Prototype race car (RA-3) was the final rendition that had the final motorsport designs placed into it before racing professionally in DTM. This 1986 factory original BMW E30 M3 DTM Gr.A Prototype (RA-3) for sale is indeed one of only 3 original factory built BMW prototype M3 DTM Gr.A race cars ever made in the entire world, it is believed that prototype race cars (RA-1) and (RA-2) had been destroyed at this point.
BMW's goal was development and testing of a new race car the E30 M3 DTM Gr.A. This unique race car (RA-3) has no twin and can not be confused with any other BMW E30 M3 DTM race car in existence, it truly is one of a kind as documented by BMW Group. These 3 development and track test E30 M3 DTM cars were different from one another: The first one (RA 1-1) came with different mirrors and still with bolt on aluminum cage, also it had plain white paint. The second (RA 2 -1) was like the third (RA-3) race car but it had a different kind of welding design for the roll cage which was NOT USED for the future production race cars, nor was it used in (RA-3).
The race car scene here for sale #3 (RA-3) is indeed the third and final prototype it is the last of the pre production test cars, that is, the father, the stem of all BMW E30 M3 DTM Group A race cars and was packed with the most innovative features of its time. This E30 M3 DTM Gr.A (RA-3) is the first race car with the single wiper blade arm, alloy foot rest and the alloy throttle pedal designs. The E30 M3 DTM Gr.A Prototype (RA-3) was painted by Walter Maurer, the famous artist and professor at the University of Munich who worked with BMW and was involved in the ART CAR PROJECTS. Walter Maurer painted with other legends such as Andy Warhol. The car is signed at the rear right corner just below the rear right brake light by Walter Maurer with paint and brush.
It is important to mention that some parts on the car were the very first original prototype parts ever, which were later manufactured for the definitive E30 M3 DTM Gr.A works team race cars. Some of the parts on this original BMW AG Motorsport E30 M3 DTM Gr.A Prototype (RA-3) race car have a legend physically on the car that says "only for test and development." This key feature is one of many facts that separates this rare E30 M3 DTM Gr.A Prototype race car from the factory race cars that followed this grandfather design. The car is available with original steering wheel, original seatbelt, original fog lights and 16’ inch wheels as used in 1986 world championship. This information is direct from BMW Group and written by a BMW member and typically can not easily be found internationally. This is the proverbial unicorn for DTM fans and collectors, the car is so well maintained it is still considered race track ready to this day.
It should also be noted this is the E30 M3 DTM Gr.A Prototype race car (RA-3) was used by the BMW Press departments to illustrate the cover on the M3 brochure. This #3 (RA-3) E30 M3 DTM Gr.A Prototype car is the very first example from BMW AG that was never raced. This car was fully built as a race car and it was decided by BMW Group to use it in sales and marketing. It can be scene in Classic BMW posters, brochures and racing events all around the world. Other unique 1 of 1 features found only on this BMW Classic Motorsport original E30 M3 DTM Group A Prototype race car would be found on the race car livery itself. This car is certified by BMW Group and is currently at BMW in Munich Germany under its well documented care. The BMW AG Classic factory race car documentation conveys with the sale of this E30 M3 DTM Group A Prototype original race car.

BMW Motorsport E26 M1 Grp.4 PROCAR Race Car
1979 and 1980 BMW Motorsport E26 M1 PROCAR
1977 was the very first prototype BMW E26 M1 street car, painted in silver with black interior, no mirrors and has an estimated worth of 4,500,000.00+ Euros.
Later in 1979 the very first of 48 total BMW Motorsport M1 Grp.4 PROCAR series race cars had been produced to race in the PROCAR series of Formula 1.
This new PROCAR series acted as a proverbial cover band to the big F1 show over the weekend during a Formula 1 race. These BMW Motorsport E26 M1 Group 4 PROCAR series race cars had mostly been driven by Formula 1 race car drivers, STC drivers and BMW works drivers. This allowed the Formula 1 drivers additional track time and a unique opportunity for everyone involved in the new official F1 PROCAR series to be in an equal BMW Motorsport M1 Grp.4 PROCAR race car powered by the same BMW Motorsport spec race engine, dubbed the M88 producing 470 HP.
This experience was so unique, F1 drivers could now prove who was the best in an even mechanical playing field, as well as any other competitors involved from other race series such as a German race car driver Hans Georg Burger. After the young rookie Mr. Burger had achieved the best time in practice training with an audience of 45,000 spectators, the 27 year old driver from Wekkschbilling finished third behind Niki Lauda and Hans-Joachim Stuck. He had finished better than numerous Formula 1 stars, such as Didier Pironi and Clay Regazzoni. It was a very special Cinderella story if you will for this rookie from Wekkschbilling who was initially discovered at a go-kart race track with a natural gift for racing and was given his first shot at professional race car driving in the Formula 1 PROCAR series of 1979 & 1980 in a BMW Motorsport E26 M1 Group 4 PROCAR race car.
Also produced in very limited production the BMW Motorsport E26 M1 Twin Turbo Charged Group 5 race car. The street cars and the race cars are now considered cult classics and soaring in used car prices for an original classic unrestored or restored race car original.

1995 McLaren F1 Road Car
Powered by the BMW Motorsport S70/2 dry sump has a displacement of 6064 cc in a v12 engine.
(McLaren F1 price on application)
Construction time from 1993 to 1998
Description: A completely new V-12 sports engine was developed in 1993 known as the BMW Motorsport S70/2. Although it used the cylinder center distance of the M70 and S70, it was a unique creation in all other respects. The layout of its cylinder head resembled that of the S50 sports engine. Its displacement was 6.1 liters.
The engine displayed a multitude of highly interesting technical solutions: twelve individual throttle valves, infinitely-variable inlet-valve timing (VANOS), two injection nozzles per cylinder, aluminum flywheel, titanium secondary muffler, dry-sump lubrication with four scavenge pumps and one pressure pump and so forth.
With an output of 600+ hp and weight of 274 kg or 604 pounds the S70/2 achieved the extremely favorable weight/power ratio of 0.45 kg/hp. As well, its specific power approached 100 hp/liter. Through 1998 the S70/2 was installed in fewer than 100 examples of the McLaren F1 sports car, 64 of these had been McLaren F1 street legal road cars.

BMW North American Motorsport Race Team PTG didn't race in 2002 but that did not stop them from being productive. This BMW Motorsport E46 M3 GT chassis #004 was an original BMW Motorsport factory built roll caged race car chassis. The BMW North American race team PTG was owned by the infamous German, Thomas Milner who retired his team from racing BMW's in 2007.

Bell Motorsport raced this car in 2002 with BMW NA Motorsport Team PTG mechanical parts support as well as BMW NA Motorsport Team PTG race car driver's to assist.
Back in 2002 BMW NA Motorsport team PTG needed a new special BMW customer race engine competitive enough to propel the BMW Motorsport factory race car chassis #004 & #005 into victory. The factory BMW works team built & maintained classic BMW Motorsport original E26 M1 Group 5 race car is in perfect mechanical health and comes
complete with factory works team certification, documented race car history and race car restoration along with the classified twin turbo race engine specification.
This rare example is considered a 1 of 1 collectible race car M1 Group 5 producing a little over 1,000 bhp. The handful of turbo engined BMW Motorsport M1's developed for Group 5 racing and fielded by private racing teams such as Schnitzer, March and Sauber were incredible evolutions in the BMW Motorsport M1 race car program.
The most impressive BMW Motorsport M1 variant in this class was created by BMW Team Schnitzer Motorsport.
BMW Team Schnitzer took a BMW Motorsport Group 4 chassis, modified it, gave it a body made of aluminum, aviation steel, Kevlar and installed a turbo unit that delivered an adjustable 850 to 1,000+ bhp. The race car driver sat in a spartan M1 cockpit but was able to adjust the boost pressure, brake force distribution, suspension anti roll bars all while in motion. Strietzel Stuck, who had done sterling work in the development and testing of the BMW Motorsport M1 racing versions, took this monster M1 Grp.5 onto the Nurburgring and the Salzburg circuit and snatched some compelling victories away from the Porsche 935 and Ford Capri, the clear favorites of the time.
