The BMW E46 M3 CSL was equipped with very sticky Michelin Motorsport street legal CUP tire with a tread wear rating of only 80.
As far as a Michelin Cup tire VS. a street tire comparison goes the Michelin Pilot Super Sport tire is rated at 300 on the tread wear scale.
Higher the tread wear number the harder the tire compound, this harder compound will resist wear to last longer but its draw back is sacrificing the tire grip.
In the dry Michelin Cup tires can increase performance by at least 1 tenth of a second on your laps times.
